Mexico Mission Trips

For the past 14 years, each Spring Break our commitment to mission work in Mexico come alive.  Months of planning and preparation - much done by student leaders and teams of students - comes to fruition as 15-passenger vans head south.  The first trip in 1993 had 18 workers and the love for the missionaries and people of Mexico has grown each year since.

In 2007, a group of 75 traveled to Aguita from the UNK campus (see large group picture HERE), and a second group of 52 from UNL went to Piedras Negras (HERE).  The number of students desiring to commit their spring break to mission work instead of relaxing on Mom and Dad's sofa is amazing.

Won't you take a minute to look at the photo gallery of pictures from these trips? (links below)

  • Construction work is done without anything automatic equipment.  Cement is mixed by hand and carried in buckets.

  • Groups of church elders come from the surrounding area to attend Elder Training classes held by the CSF staff and sponsors.

  • Women are taught to sew, with several sewing machines and boxes of fabric left behind as they hone their skills and are able to clothe their families.

  • CSF girls and guys alike open hoods of vehicles to do repair work on cars for church families, missionaries, and local residents.  Imagine going to a parts store and ordering a "carbuerator" in Spanish....it's a challenge!

  • Vacation Bible School is held every evening complete with "bounce houses," bible stores, balloons, face painting, puppet shows, and most importantly, an abundance of hugs.
