General Information about
Gifts to CSF
Your
contribution will go into our general fund.
Your gift will to be used for expenses such as ministers’ salaries, student
ministry activities, office supplies, utilities, and other recurring costs.
You may contribute through your normal
offering at your church.
In addition to your regular tithe or giving at your home church, you can add
a contribution to be sent to Christian Student Fellowship. If you are not
sure if your church is a regular supporter of CSF, you may contact
cindy@csfneb.org
or call the individual who heads your church’s mission team. If you would
like to take yet one more step, let us know if you would like us to visit
your church and present the work of CSF. We visit at least six churches each
month and offer special music, sermons, Sunday School class instruction, as
well as introducing people to CSF.
You may contribute funds to support one of
our minister’s salary.
Each one of our staff members has a special team of individual dedicated to
praying for and financially supporting him or her. They are ministers – and
also missionaries on the college campus. If you would like to join any one
of our ministers’ personal Support Team, just let us know by e-mailing
greg@csfneb.org
or calling (308) 234-3922.
You
may contribute for a specific mission trip.
Our annual trip to Mexico requires over $30,000 to cover all the expenses of
travel and food for students and staff, van rentals, border crossing costs,
and the purchase of building supplies for the work projects we undertake
while there. Students do much of the fund-raising themselves, but any
additional gifts are greatly appreciated. Other mission trips require
significant contributions for expenses also. Help in these areas is
desperately needed and very much appreciated.
You may give financial support to a CSF
Missionary on long-term mission trips.
We currently have two students who have committed to live for two or more
years on the mission field, one in the Philippines and one in Romania. For
more information on Rob and Jeremy, look on the website page “Mission Work.”
To support either missionary, indicate on your check that you would like
your contribution to go to Rob or Jeremy.
You
may give financial support to specific CSF students on their short-term
mission trips.
In the summer of 2003, we had three CSFers commit their summer vacation to
serving on the mission field. One spent 2 months working in an orphanage in
Romania, another traveled deep into Mexico to work with missionary doctors
in setting up a new medical clinic for the poor, and a third spent most of
her summer in Honduras helping missionaries there. In the summer of 2002,
two groups of CSFers went to Japan to help missionaries committed to
spreading the gospel to Japanese who have never heard of Jesus Christ and
have no religion of any kind. For more information on financial
contributions, contact Greg Swinney, Statewide Ministry Director at
greg@csfneb.org
or (308) 234-3922.
All contributions
to Campus Crusade for Christ are income tax-deductible and
are made with the understanding that
Christian Student
Fellowship has complete discretion and control over the use
of all donated funds.

Our Commitment to Financial
Integrity
Christian Student Fellowship of Nebraska (CSF) is dedicated to
maintaining financial integrity within every aspect of its ministry.
Psalm 41:12 says, "In my integrity you
uphold me and set me in your presence forever."
This simple but profound statement reflects the Lord's promise to
those who are committed to honoring Him. We believe this definitely
applies to the financial area of our campus ministry.
As
faithful stewards of all He provides, CSF is committed to dealing
honestly and fairly with other organizations, properly recording
transactions, and making our annual financial statements available
to interested parties. Exercising financial integrity means that we
live in faith and not in fear.
Christian Student Fellowship of Nebraska, Inc. is registered as a
501(c)(3) nonprofit religious corporation with the Internal Revenue
Service.
CSF is neither endowed, sponsored, nor funded by any governmental
agency or church denomination. We are entirely dependent upon the
charitable contributions of the people and organizations who believe
in our mission and purpose. Currently over fifty area churches and
over 600 families and individuals stand with us financially as we
attempt to reach the 65,000+ college students in Nebraska and
university students throughout the world.
All
contributions are tax-deductible as far as the law allows and every
donation is receipted in a timely fashion. We make every effort to
equip our professional staff with the training and resources needed
to accurately record and protect all ministry transactions. Our
priority is to affirm God's grace in all that we do, acknowledging
His favor in this time of growth. The blessing of widespread
support comes with a continuing challenge to honor our friends by
thanking God for them. As each gift is acknowledged, we make it a
priority to pray a prayer of thanks for that donor and thank God for
answering our prayers for His provision.
We
are committed to honor the Lord's trust by using His resources
wisely and for His purposes. Therefore, CSF is committed to wise
planning and careful spending. Budgetary decisions are made by the
Board of Directors in such a way that reflects our primary
objectives and mission statement.
We
believe that the way an organization handles itself in the financial
arena is a reflection of its integrity in every arena. We have,
therefore, established strict limitations on the way our resources
are used.
The
policies that guide us within the financial aspects of our ministry
follow:
We recognize this ministry began as a result of God's leading,
continues as a work of faith in Him, and is dependent upon Him for
future ministry. In essence, where God guides...God provides.
[Psalm 111:5]
We consider the contributions we receive from friends and partners
to be ultimately from the Hand of God. Loving people sacrifice to
make their gifts possible. Our obligation, therefore, is to spend
that money conservatively and wisely in continuing the ministry. We
have no equipment or ministries that are not absolutely essential.
Every penny is stretched as far as possible to fulfill God's mission
for us. [Proverbs 30:8]
We will receipt all donations in a timely fashion. Non-cash gifts
will be receipted according to the gift's market value in order to
provide information to our contributors for tax
purposes. [Col 2:6-7]
Donations made to CSF which are designated for a specific area of
ministry (such as a new campus ministry effort, interns, short-term
missions participants) will be set aside from the General Fund into
an account for designated gifts. These designated gifts will be
disbursed according to the donor's wishes. [Psalm 18:25]
We will not operate the ministry at a deficit. Although from time
to time it may become necessary to borrow funds for large capital
expenditures, such as for a new building, we will seek to repay the
loans as soon as possible. Debt is bondage and we choose not to
operate our day to day ministry with continual cash shortfalls.
[Romans 13:8]
We will not ask people to support CSF until their responsibilities
to the local church have been met. The church is where the Lord asks
us to bring our first fruits. [Malachi 3:10]
One
of the ways we can discern the Lord's will regarding the
continuation of our work is through the support He sends (or doesn't
send) from His people. Therefore, during lean times we will make our
needs known to God and to our friends - but we will not beg or plead
for contributions. We will never resort to what we consider to be
disrespectful and dishonorable methods of fund-raising, even when
the needs are serious. [Philippians 4:14-19]
When we make a purchase, we will pay the invoice within thirty days,
if possible. We do not intend to finance the campus ministry through
the use of vendor funds. Financial integrity means not only
repaying our debts, but making sure we pay them on time.
We will not intentionally to raise more money than we need. [Exodus
36:5-7]
We will never sell or rent our mailing list to those wishing to use
the names and addresses of our supporters. We will maintain the
tightest security on our list of friends and supporters. [1
Corinthians 4:1-2]\
Our team of dedicated ministry staff are paid competitive wages at
or above the average for their position and the area of the country
in which we work. We will not intentionally underpay staff to
reduce expenses. (Romans 4:4)
We are ethically and legally obligated to maintain transparent
financial records, and any donor may request at any time, with
legitimate reason, a review of financial transactions. (Matthew
6:24)
To
summarize, we will try to remember always
that the Lord --
Jehovah Jireh -- is our Provider.
He ordained and blessed
this campus ministry
and our desire is to
honor Him.

Special Fund Appeals
On occasion, an
individual, family, or mission team may desire to support a
specific program or project. Current needs for which
you may want to consider a special "above-and-beyond" gift
include:
| |
Recently
expanded meeting space for up to 200 students means
more stackable chairs are needed.
Continued growth on the Northeast Community College
campus created a need for more and better sound
equipment.
Three
small colleges have contacted CSF with an interest
to start a ministry on their campus. Funds
need to be available for hiring part-time and,
later, full-time ministry staff.
Spring
Break Mission Trips bring with them a need for
special gifts to cover costs of gas, rental vans,
food for students and sponsors, construction
supplies, and more. Special gifts are always
appreciated.
Student
interns are responsible for raising financial
support on their own. To make a designated
gift for an intern, contact the CSF office at (308)
234-3922 for current interns on each campus.
15-passengers are used extensively to transport
students to CSF activities, retreat, and mission
trips. International students are treated to
area sight-seeing trips and shopping at Wal-Mart.
Vans become "tired" and need replacement every few
years. There is always a need for special gifts to
the Designated Fund for Van Replacement.
Foreign
Language Bibles in Japanese, Korean, Chinese. There never
seem to be enough on hand. This is a great project
for a Sunday School Class or small group.
Provide for
Meal Expense for International Student Suppers. 25+
students from foreign countries come on Sunday
evenings to the UNK House to enjoy a meal,
conversation to sharpen their English skills, and a
Bible lesson they can understand.

Liquidation of Non-Cash Donations
As the ministry
of Christian Student Fellowship ursues the mandate to help
fulfill the Great Commission in this generation, we believe
that all available resources should be at work in the
furtherance of this goal. Therefore, non-cash donations that
it receives will generally be liquidated at the first
available opportunity. Gifts of stocks, bonds, mutual funds
and other securities will be sold immediately, often within
3 to 5 days. Gifts of real property approved by the Property
Team within the CSF Board of Directions and will be turned
over to appropriate brokers/agents for sale to a qualified
buyer. Exceptions may be made by Board of DIrections as
deemed appropriate and consistent with our overall mission
of the organization.
The ministry
will not hold non-cash gifts long-term nor seek to "time the
market," but will liquidate them in a wise, thoughtful
manner. Any and all resources necessary to the liquidation
process will be marshaled to expedite the conversion of
non-cash gifts to cash for ministry use(s) as designated by
the donor. Questions regarding such procedures are welcome
and may be directed to the Board Chairman (Dan Miller
at 308-
) or the Statewide Ministry Director (Greg Swinney at
308-293-3033).
